1. Overcoming barriers to Open Source procurement in the European Union
   The EU has just started a review of European public procurement rules, and have asked for input on potential changes to the rules. The OSI has responded advocating for changes to dismantle these barriers and ensure Open Source solutions are fairly considered.
2. The OSI endorses the United Nations Open Source Principles
   The United Nations Open Source United community and the Open Source Initiative (OSI) today announced that the OSI has become the first organization to officially endorse the UN Open Source Principles.
3. Meta’s LLaMa license is still not Open Source
   At a time when Meta is trying to redefine Open Source for their own benefit and at the expense of our freedom, we call on the whole Open Source community to unite and call out Meta’s open washing.
4. Reimagining data for Open Source AI: A call to action
   The Open Source Initiative (OSI) and Open Future have published a white paper: “Data Governance in Open Source AI: Enabling Responsible and Systematic Access.” This document is the culmination of a global co-design process, enriched by insights from a vibrant two-day workshop held in Paris in October 2024.
5. OSI’s board of directors in 2025: details about the elections
   The OSI board of directors is renewing 3 of its seats with an open election process among its full individual members and affiliates.
